Man, it didn't take long for me to get tired of this being nothing but bitching. That's never fun. Well, yes it is, but only for me. I want this to be a more positive site now that I've gone to a more positive place.
I am now working at another restaurant. It is a very small, cozy place and I love it. The owners are super nice and supportive. I cannot say enough great things about it.
On a totally different note I'd like to share some things that I've done lately. I went to go see the show The Lion King, and was totally impressed. You can't believe how involved you become in the puppetry. You almost forget that there are even human actors involved. I was blown away. Then the next week I went to go see the USA Olympic gymnastic team show. For some reason I didn't put together 2 + 2 and come up with it being geared towards kids (DUH!). Despite my general distaste for little ones it was great...once you got past the Disney-backed girl band and solo singer. All kidding aside, the gymnasts were just as impressive as they were in Beijing. Especially the men! Holy cow! HOT HOT HOT!
Anyway, I hope now that I'm on an upswing maybe some peeps can enjoy me. Not that I mind writing for myself at all. Very cathartic and all.

I finally got out!! And none too soon. Apparently my fellow day shift co-worker and I "do NO work whatsoever"; the third person does all the work. It is incredible. What a passive-aggressive move: to tell the night shift that the other two day shift workers don't do any work. That way you don't have to say shit to them, just wait for the night shift (who are all friends with the day shift) to say something to the daytimers. Fucking ridiculous. And just the weekend before that a gal that had worked for these people for over 10 years walked out because of something as stupid as crispy hashbrowns. I shit you not. A customer asked for crispy hashbrowns (not too exotic a request, right?) and the order came out and the HB's were NOT crispy. So the waitress didn't want to bring it to their table (understandably). The owner blew up at her! "We don't have fucking time to make damn crispy hashbrowns!" It is so stupid, but so typical. I am editing a lot of the details, but I think you get the gist of it. This is a place that will "cut" (let go early) a server that makes $2.13 an hour to save a few cents when their cooks are in the back making $13.00+

Typical Drama
So, life has been plodding along relentlessly. The workplace hasn't changed one bit. More turnover than a rent-by-the-hour hotel room. The "Table of Negativity" (#203, in case you wondered) has been buzzing non-stop. I love this moniker, because it is so accurate. I googled workplace and the consensus is that it's a great restaurant, but needs new ownership/management. I had to laugh. Let's just pull one example from the plethora. A waitress came in early with her ride to work, and was sitting at the Table doing something other than work. One of the TOO MANY managers came in and FREAKED out that A)the employee didn't jump up and salute at their arrival, B)the girl didn't stop doing the activity that was not work related and C)that other "responsible" employees didn't do something about it. Well DUH! the fucking girl was not on the clock! So instead of just asking the waitress why she was sitting there "goofing off" we had to make phone calls to another manager AND the owners. So the end result was that the "responsible" employees got bitched out royally for nothing. Absolutely nothing. It is shit like this that makes all the good employees that we ever have quit in less than a year. Oh well, hopefully my time there will be blessedly short.

Oh so long
I cannot believe that it's been this long since I first posted that entry. Over a year! It's absolutely incredible the things that have occured since the last post. I haven't posted again because I became afraid of people finding my site and being hurt by it. But now I really don't care because these are my last days in this place. There really is non-stop soap-opera worthy action going on in my place of work. Stuff you just can't make up. To set the stage it is a mom & pop owned restaurant. They've been in the biz for about 20 years or so. Today for example yet ANOTHER person was fired/quit. He'd been ridden hard by the owners (especially the wife) this week. Literally she will follow you around and nitpick at you until you think you will scream. So I guess the guy had just had enough, and said something wiseass in response to something the male owner said. The owner gets right in the waiter's face and points his finger at him and yells "I'm sick of your smartass answers!" And the guy is all "I'm outta here! You'll get your money and I'm gone!" Cannot say that I blame him one bit. The fact that I've worked for these people for almost 3 years is like LEGENDARY long time in this town. They are both locals in this small Kansas town, so everybody knows them and what they are like. And no one can believe that I've worked for them for so long. Especially if they know ME very well at all. I do not put up with a lot of crap, and speak my mind pretty freely. But I haven't been the target for attacks very often; they pretty much leave me alone. So I'm good, but lately I've just had it with the place, the job, the whole bit.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I will try to input a bit more often. Even if it is only for me to come back and read.
